2018 Way In Network Press Conference

Way In Network (WIN) has hosted its press conference today at Zilver Restaurant Sydney.

As open speech by WIN’s President Ms Annie Tang JP, “As confirmed in our recent Annual General Meeting 2018, Way In Network is excited to announce the upcoming highlight activities to the public, including our annual signature event, the Complimentary Aged Vegetarian Lunch on 31 Oct 2018 Wed; Way In Network 27th Anniversary Charity Gala Ball “Paths of Enlightenment” in Celebration of 2019 International Women Day at Hilton Hotel Sydney on 2 March 2019 Sat; as well as our donation of $25,000 to Australian Chinese Charity Foundation (ACCF).”

Annie also mentioned, “As a women Association we had in the past placed a lot of resources and charity proceeds to support the women sector such as being the ethic ambassador to Australian Gynaecological Cancer Foundation (AGCF) and funded their research scholarship, as well as many women welfare talk. We also think that we should broaden more the services spectrums to children and education which although we have done before, we feel we could do more as our 2019 Charity Ball’s theme to open more “paths of enlightenment” to the children and youngsters in need, and to equip them for better future. While the aged luncheon is our annual signature event as respect and salute to the aged who had built the present beautiful society by their effort and contribution in the past.”

Way In Network Annual Vegetarian Lunch to the Aged

WIN’s Hon. Advisor & Event Chair Mrs Florence Chau JP as well as WIN’s Senior Vice President Jessie Xiao said, “  this year we will be hosting our Vegetarian Luncheon for over 330 seniors  on or over 70 years in age. Lunch will be run on 31 Oct Wed from 12 noon onwards at Zilver Restaurant. This year will be the first year that we are not hosting the event in Golden Century Restaurant due to the construction project of Golden Century. Zilver Restaurant was chosen after much consideration of the food quality, location convenience as well as attendees’ safety. Free tickets are being distributed through channels of associations and institutions servicing the aged.  Same as all the past 25 years, attending seniors will enjoy sumptuous vegi food, lai see and gifts for everyone as well as variety performances. We are delighted to have the dancing performance from Australian Chinese Community Association (ACCA) and singing performance from Way In choir. We have to thank the tremendous & continuous support from members, corporate sponsors for their generous donations in forms of cash and gifts.

Way In Network 27th Anniversary Charity Gala Ball “Paths of Enlightenment” in Celebration of 2019 International Women Day

Also WIN’s Hon Advisor Ms Linda Tang JP as well as Vice President Ms Felicia Hon had briefed the attendees on the 2019 Charity Ball. Linda said, “As the theme “Paths of Enlightenment” depicts, we would like to contribute to 2 worthy causes namely “Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC)” as well as an initiative to fund the medical practitioners to undertake voluntary working experience for “World Health Organisation (WHO)” in Geneva. While donations for RIDBC will assist the organisation for better educational resources for their students; the WHO Bursary of total AUD$30,000 for 3 years will enable young medical practitioners exposure to high standard of medical research with global perspective for future medical career prospects. Our goal is  to maximise the opportunity for youngsters in their journeys of education and enlightenment; we also want to give a hand to those worthy organisations who are helping the children in need and youngsters growing with  better resources, that in future we will all have a brighter future and society. Linda had also thanked “Australian Chinese Medical Association (ACMA)” of having initiated WIN’s sponsorship of WHO Bursary”

Felicia also introduced the Charity Ball details as well as appealed for more personal and corporate sponsorships to support the charity proceeds for the above mentioned organisations.  She had also announced the great news of having secured 3 major corporate sponsors namely Westpac Private Banking; Urban Stellar and Landcross Real Estate.

Professor Danforn Lim, President of ACMA had also spoken in the press conference, expressing his pleasure of the WHO Bursary being confirmed and thanked WIN for their generosity; Darren Parmenter – Corporate & Community Partnerships Manager, on behalf of RIDBC had also thanked WIN for their repeated support.

Mr Pierre Leung, Associate Director of Asian Banking – Westpac Private Bank of Westpac Private Banking had also spoken and thanked WIN for giving Westpac the opportunity to donate and to take the role for great corporate citizenship.

$25,000 Donation to ACCF for Farmers’ Appeal through ACCF

Ms Faith Tan, Secretary of WIN had also announced the donation of $25,000 to ACCF as above mentioned and the donation would go to the farmers’ appeal as disastrous impact made by recent drought. Cheque presentation to ACCF was performed in the conference by WIN’s committees and the member Ms Anne Bi to Monica Chu, President of ACCF.

Australian Chinese Charity Foundation Annual Dinner was held on Saturday, 13rd of October 2018 at the Marigold Chinese Restaurant. As part of the annual funds and grants program, ACCF has made a presentation of $110,000 to “We Stand As One With Local Farmers – Dilly Drought Drive”. Cheque has been presented to:
